At-home learning and meals continue
Under an executive order given Friday by Gov. Greg Abbott, Texas schools will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year to further reduce the spread of COVID-19 in Texas. North Lamar ISD will continue its suspension of in-person learning and will continue at-home learning through the end of the calendared 2019-20 school year.
North Lamar will continue with homework assignment packets and meal distributions. Homework assignments pick up and completed assignments drop off will continue for two-weeks at a time as planned. Those dates are April 20, May 4 and May 18 from 7:30 a.m. — 6 p.m. The District will communicate in the coming weeks how parents and students will be able to safely collect personal belongings from the campus and return school-issued supplies, including technology.
Breakfasts and lunches will continue to be prepared and distributed for a week at a time. Meals will be available for pick up on Mondays from 8 to 10 a.m. at Aaron Parker Elementary and Higgins Elementary.
The District is awaiting guidance from Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath on how best to conduct graduation ceremonies. Information regarding the upcoming commencement ceremonies will be communicated to seniors.
“North Lamar is committed to helping our parents and students navigate through at-home learning the remainder of the school year,” said NL Superintendent Kelli Stewart. “We appreciate the willingness and effort of both parents and students as we aim to finish the school year strong.”
